I have a great passion to use my knowledge to assist my athletes in being the best version of themselves.

The relationship part is important. We keep it fun, achievable, often scary but exciting.

Celebrating the success and reflecting upon the experiences that did not go to plan. It’s about respect, communication, growth and being adaptable.

I am an accredited and experienced cycling coach, with well over 15 years of working with a variety of different people.

I coach mountain bikers, road cyclists, long-distance endurance & Ultra riders as well as shorter cross country, CX and crit racers too. Some of my clients don't even race - they just enjoy the fitness that riding a bike gives and enter participation events or go on cycling holidays.

All of my athletes are "real people" with a work/life/family/recovery balance focus regardless of their goals. I work really really strongly on enabling quality of life in every facet so that becoming a better cyclist remains a passion and never a chore.

The FOCUS is always on your vision, your WHY

What steps you might need to take to reach a goal or just stay on track to take your bike riding to a new level.

I subscribe to getting to know you from how your life demands impact you through to other pursuits and how you handle stress etc. You've probably heard it before, work smarter not harder. Adding core work as well as other activity is also a priority..oh and stretching too! For endurance events, there is also the element of preparedness.

"Do today what others won't so you can do tomorrow what others can't".

This applies not just to your on-bike fitness, but also your planning for everything in the event. Get used to normalising the difficult so on your event you have been there and rehearsed all the hard times. The big thing that is often never taken into account is mental well being & emotional health.

Improving your riding and still LOVING it is really important in the world of responsibilities, work-life balance etc... You can make a difference, given structure and purpose with small changes rather than large ones.

I use Training Peaks with my clients.

This allows me to communicate the programming online and we can change days and programs around really easily. Training Peaks is the industry standard and I love working with athletes on it... it allows us two communication via the platform on each and every session.

I absolutely subscribe to regular contact. In fact, it's essential.

Email, Gmail chat, Facebook chat, Skype video/phone hookups, whatever you need to get the job done, everyone is different....as well as time to time face to face meetings.

I also like to get you to do a weekly overview of how "life" went. Life is everything, what needs work, what do we need to back off on? all that can be nipped in the bud if you acknowledge the good and the bad about training. I have clients over Australia and also New Zealand.

Once you are in the 1% program, you can expect to be delivered at least 1 to 2 weeks of your program in advance but with regular contact, this can often and does often change and that's ok. Some people I work on a monthly schedule do to their needs. Social media, Skype and cloud-based Training Peaks work a treat for staying in contact.

You just need to let me know what equipment you have and use. (including any weights or bike ergos, power meter etc...)

What other life things you need to fit into a weekly schedule.

What might have worked for you in the past, what absolutely cannot and won't change?

Between myself and the rest of my clients, we share our wealth of knowledge freely between each other on our private Facebook page. Jess' 1% Club.  This can be invaluable to find out what worked for others without having to learn that yourself!

What else should you know.

So, You need a Coach?

“You won’t always be YOUR BEST, you won’t always be THE BEST, however, you can always do YOUR BEST. "

Coaching is simply guiding, mentoring and facilitating to allow a person to reach their own true potential.

Providing constant feedback to assist in personal growth and knowledge development. Creating a relationship where Coach and Athlete can openly communicate.

These are the keystones to the coaching philosophy.
