Cold, Wet & Windy...but still I ride! PDF Print

Dirty bum   Koala on Red Carpet     Kaanglang hill ride

My week started out dry, with only a touch of drizzle at the You Yangs social ride on Queens birthday.  Phil stacked, we buried him, then drove home to start my week back in Forrest with a pledge to myself to get out and ride no matter what!

Tuesday I was so busy replying to all the emails and working on MTBSkills.com.au that a ride just did not happen.  So at 10pm that night, I hogged the loungeroom and put on Channel V and did an indoor trainer session on the road bike.  Wow, I actually stayed on the bike for an hour.

It was tough to work out how I was going to measure my session and get something out of it.  So I did a 15 w/u with an interval session working up 1min/1 recovery, 2/1, 3/2, 4/3, 5/4 and back down again.  I was to do the efforts in big chain ring and 15 on the rear(did not have cadence or speed) with the aim of steady "strength efforts" smooth pedalling and increase my hr into E3.  It worked a treat, but am keen to see about SRM cranks one day....Easier to work on watts than HR.

The week that was... PDF Print

Today is Tuesday and I have spent the day at home.  Lovely.  Never under estimate the value of a day at home.

Thursday I spent the day doing things that needed doing for my bikes, and my final session of Boot Camp in Geelong.  Nandos' with a few Boot Camp friends and then off to Melbourne to stay at Liz's.

Liz and Jess  nice trails  liz demonstrating style

Friday morning we were off on our Yarra Trails ride. Went to theVegie Bar for lunch and did over 50km of fun riding including some Kamikazee style riding through Collins St at lunch time.  The kangaroos at Lysterfield are nothing compared to human beings in suits at 12:30pm on a Friday.

Friday night, off to cycle coaching course at DISC 6-9pm.

Saturday 9-6pm more time in lectures from 9-6pm.  Staying at Grandmas, sleep!

Sunday - repeat above.  Drive to Liz's, stay night.

Monday- drive to You Yang's for social ride.  A great day, overcast a bit cold, great for MTB riding.  15 kms into it, poor Phil had a spill.

Phil the Spill  ouch!

The group was great and we sorted Phil out. We had to bury him at the Stockyards car park with all the toilet paper poo piles, but at least the ground was soft and pre fertilized.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy life!  Sleep in if you can...the weather is shyte.

Its "fun day" Wednesday again! PDF Print

Norm and I have been heading out for rides for only a couple of hours, but managing some fun on the MTB none the less.  Wednesday seems to be the day when I can get Norms butt away from the computer.

We headed up Kaanglang Rd again for a 10km dirt road climb.  Boring, yes, but great strength training in E2 HR zone.  Then comes the fun of the fast 1km downhill section to the Kaanglang Quarry that has been used in Otway Odyssey twice.  Drop in on another overgrown but awesome downhill that is a bum touching rear tyre, smelly brakes section of around another 800mts and land on the doorstep of Lake Elizabeth.

Lake Elizabeth offers some cruel hill climbs, then a 2km climb up the No2 Trail to link onto Red Carpet(no3).  The trail was definately hard packed and reasonably dry today. Unlike 1 week ago where I was sliding all over the place going around corners. We had to do a few tree removals over the track, rotted out old trees that just fall after rain and dampness creeps in.

After our final hoot downhill through the last section of Red Carpet and 20kms later, we were home and ready to get stuck into another days work.  We may even be going for a night ride tonight in Forrest.  Have a great week!
